It finally Happened…

Last year my good friend David Moulton recommended to me to pick up a copy of Jeffrey Zeldman’s prolific Designing with Web Standards. In his recommendation, David said “you’ll use it until it breaks and then you’ll go out and buy another copy…it’s that good!” I didn’t believe him at the time, but one year later I admit to the whole world that he was right! The binding broke last night as a lay in bed reading it yet again.

Zeldman’s book is a phenomenal primer, and reminder of the importance, and practicality of web standards in design. I recommend this to anyone who is interested in Web design. Thanks David for sharing it.

joshclarkportfolio.com featured on CSSMania.com

joshclarkportfolio.com was featured today on CSSMania.com, a website dedicated to showcasing well-designed websites that use tableless design. The use of Cascade Style Sheets (CSS) for layout and styling is a concept gaining wide-range acceptance across the web. However, browser support for CSS makes the correct implementation of CSS layout more of an art than a science (although it is both). That said, CSS cleans up html code, allows for diffferent layouts depending on media viewer (computer, mobile phone, PDA, screen readers, etc) and makes site-wide style changes a snap. CSS is part of the changing face of the web, and sites like CSSMania feature designers who are embracing that change by designing accessible, versatile, and beautiful web pages in CSS.
